She is mother, shelter, predator, pest. Paying homage to Louise Bourgeois's Maman (1999), this site-specific adaptation of the spider confronts visitors to the exhibition, cueing them to the emotional and sensory journey that is about to begin. Accompanied by the sounds of dripping water, this Boobie Spider activates the surrounding space, transforming the threshold into a moment of reckoning and release.

A silky soft sculpture that embodies a range of seemingly contradictory emotions and identities. Boobie Spider is both protector and threat; aggressive and adorable; powerful and vulnerable.
